Elizabeth Salim has been a colored pencil/pastel portrait artist and teacher for over 25 years. She studied Fashion Illustration/Commercial Art at Art Institute of Atlanta and later took life drawing classes at VCU.
She has always been fascinated with the face and spent as much time as possible drawing her classmates. Later inspired by the work of Ben Nelson, she fell in love with colored pencil portraiture and began taking commissions. In recent years she has studied at the workshops of Daniel Greene, NA, John de la Vega, Tim Chambers, and Jonathan Linton.
Elizabeth continually strives to grow as an artist through personal study and practice. She is a member of the Portrait Society of America and attends their annual conference.
Elizabeth believes that God is the ultimate artist and art is a gift from Him. She seeks to capture the beauty of His creation in the likeness and character of the people and animals she paints.
"All great art is the expression of man's delight in God's work, not his own.”
- John Ruskin
